Things you love about your town..
The thing we have enjoyed most about living in Clayton is the small town with the big heart feel you have living here. It’s not a huge place that you get lost, yet big enough that you have space.

Tell us something about your neighborhood…
Our street is at the end (or the beginning) of town. It’s a quiet area, yet our neighbors are friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. Everyone keeps an eye out for our older neighbors and the families with younger children help to bring a well roundness to our end of town.

Where do you love to eat?
Little Jim’s Pizza is our frequent sandwich place, we love there wrap sandwiches and specialty pizzas. There is also Nick’s Pizza for a good Stromboli. More recently we have enjoyed eating at Neri’s Cafe & Mexican Grill. If we are in the mood for Chinese, there is Best Food in Town. We even have a Dunkin Donuts for a coffee on the way to work. However, You can’t live in Clayton with out a nice stroll over to Twin Kiss for an ice ream treat on a long summers evening (or any evening). There’s a little bit of everything here.

Grocery stores and other conveniences…
Our little town has just the right amount of conveniences. There is the Acme for all your grocery needs. We also have a Rite Aide in town for any thing medical and there’s the Dollar Tree or Heritages for a quick run in. In addition there are two laundromats if you’re ever in a need. We even have two places for some adult spirits, Kenny’s Liquors or Clayton liquors. I’ve enjoyed he post office conveniently located right around the corner from us.

What were you drawn to when you bought the property?
We originally purchased the property because of the large fenced in yard. As a young couple with a small child and a dog, the yard was a big factor. During the last 30 plus years our home and it’s yard have been a great place for us to spend time with family and friends celebrating many milestones. We were also drawn to it’s proximity to our extended families and jobs. As well the areas low taxes was a deciding factor.

What do you love about the area?
We are native to South Jersey. It’s a great place to live and raise a family. It’s a diverse area with good school systems. It’s centrally located to all most everything. An hour to the beach and board walk for a fun get away. Just over the bridge to Philadelphia for a theatrical show, sporting events or concert. It offers 4 seasons to enjoy with a change in each, yet none to hard to handle.

Anything else?
Another FYI we can mention about living in Clayton are the several choices of worship / churches located in town. All of which offer many services to the community. There’s St. Catherine’s Parish (St. Michael’s School), Trinity Methodist has a wonderful preschool and a before and after school program. The First Baptist Church is host to several youth organizations. There is also First Presbyterian, Faith Tabernacle or Praise Temple. Showing a wide diversity in a great little town.

What other things do you love/enjoy about the area?
Another perk to living in Clayton was the ONE public school system. There is just one elementary, one middle and one high school. To us and our children it was another aspect of the just big enough feel of our neighborhood. All the kids not only learn and work together, they play together on the play ground, on sports teams and in there back yards. Forming lasting bonds of friendships and a feeling of community. If you prefer a privet education there is St Michael’s where the kids still are apart of the community.

Everyone has different interests, one of our girls attended Dancing by Denise, and both were active in local Scout troops right here in town. However, Clayton’s central location allowed us to be active in other interests like bowling, art classes and golf in adjacent towns like Glassboro, Pitman, Washington Twp and Turnersville.

Utility Costs?
Having lived in the same home for more then 30 years we don’t have much comparison to offer when it comes to utility costs. Other then speaking with those who live in area towns. To our knowledge living in Clayton is very affordable. We have public water / sewer that is paid quarterly. We chose to the “budget” options with both So Jersey Gas (gas heat) and Atlantic Electric so our utilities were constant year round (once a year the budget would adjust to your usage for the up coming year). We chose to use Verizon for our internet / TV / phone services – this can be pricey. However, today there are many choices for this type of service.
